Ash of Cannock

Ash of Cannock - a Genealogy

Claudius Ash at 21 in 1813

He found it "Disgusting" - having to use natural teeth pulled from hospital corpses, or robbed from graveyards. But there was nothing else Claudius Ash could use in the early nineteenth century, for his prosthetic dental work. So he began making a range of artificial teeth to use instead, mineral 'Ash Teeth' made from porcelain, and went on to found the international dental supply house of Claudius Ash & Sons.

He was my gt-gt-gt-grandfather - descended from generations of Staffordshire yeomen centred around Cannock Manor. My research findings now form a modest genealogy of my branch of the Ash family, and the files are available on this site.

The Index (above and below) lists all the individuals in the project. Click on any name, and the current information I have on that name will be displayed. If the name you click has a known spouse, you'll see details of the spouse and children as well. For the big picture, click the Ash Chart (below), then scroll across to find the start.
